In God We Trust

The first time the phrase “In God We Trust” appeared was on the U.S 2 cent piece in the year 1864. Since 1957, it has appeared on all coin and paper bills. In 1956, it was declared the national motto by Congress.

 

In the 1954, the Pledge of Allegiance was changed to include the phrase “under God”. Numerous polls were created to find out that Americans’ did believe in God.

Christianity in America

In the US, the largest religion to this day is Christianity. It’s practiced by 76% of the the American population. It is followed by Protestants at around 51% which is than followed by Catholics.
 
Christianity was first introduced in European colonization. Since America is so large, it has the biggest population of Christians in the world. It should also be noted that due to the percentages. Even though Christianity is the largest and most influential religion in the U.S, it is on the decline. Within the last decade, the percentage of followers have dropped about 10%.
