Shannon Price Minter

Shannon Price Minter is the legal director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, one of the nation’s leading legal advocacy groups for LGBT people and their families.  Minter has litigated impact cases across the country on behalf of LGBT youth, parents, elders, prisoners, employees, students, and asylum seekers.  He argued before the California Supreme Court in 2008 in the California marriage equality case and represented same-sex couples from Tennessee in the 2016 U.S. Supreme Court decision establishing marriage equality nationwide.  Minter, a transgender man, is recognized as a leading national expert on transgender legal issues.  He is an editor of Transgender Rights and a co-author of Family Law for LGBT People.  Minter has a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from Cornell Law School.
